Hi Paul! Do you know of anyone that has more information on Donald Murray? I am a descendant. Thanks!

DeleteDonald Murray, born 1928 Woorabinda, parents Arthur Murray (born c1906 Moree) and Dolly Murray. Arthur's parents Dan Murray (born c1881 St George, died 1943) and Eileen / Helen Murray)
Thanks Paul - the dates I have for Donald; born 1894 - died 1933. So that could possibly be him!
ReplyDeleteThe following info is from The State Library of QLD:
Donald’s father non-Indigenous & mother South Sea Islander & Aboriginal.
Donalds grandfather was South Sea Islander / grandmother Aboriginal from the Kabi Kabi tribe, of Dunwich.
He was taken to Yarrabah Mission.
Do you know of any helpful websites and/or other resources that could possibly help me with knowing more about him?
Thank you so much!

ReplyDeleteJohn Lifou/ Roberts had children with a number of Women. There is a letter from the late 1890’s breaking down women’s babies to nationality of fathers. Unfortunately no names provided. This meeting was held after the superintendent of the dunwich benevolent raised letter with Meston regarding complaining of their night time presence on the sight.
DeleteApparently Alberta has two sisters
Alberta passed away April 1908.
ReplyDeleteThere was a bit of a BIG Kangaroo Jump: "This meeting was held after the superintendent of the dunwich benevolent raised letter with Meston regarding complaining of their night time presence on the sight". Is the letter about women's babies and fathers and the meeting related, and how?
ReplyDeleteWasn't Alberta the eldest of eleven? "Anonymous19 June 2023 at 16:50"
